Paramount logo briefly appears on screen.

THE KITCHEN

The walls of the kitchen are sage, the kitchen has a stone tiled floor with wooden work surfaces.

THE KITCHEN FLOOR

Lucy’s motionless body is lying dead on the floor in a pool of what appears to be blood. Small shards of glass can be seen on the floor surrounding her. As the sequence progresses the pool of blood starts to become smaller and mover closer to Lucy. The shards of glass on the floor surrounding Lucy start to move closer to her right hand. The shards of glass form together as a wine glass. It is at this point that it becomes obvious that the sequence is in reverse. The pool of blood goes into the glass which suggests that it was actually wine. The glass of wine moves up from the ground into the air slightly. As the wine glass moves further up in the air, movement can be seen in Lucy’s body. Lucy’s eyes suddenly open. Lucy’s body starts to move slowly up in the air. She falls onto her back in reverse. The wine glass returns to Lucy’s hand. Lucy stands up and pours wine into her glass in reverse. Lucy walks into the room in reverse.

Research into distibution company

Paramount pictures is a subsidiary of the media conglomerate Viacom. We have chosen it to be our distribution company as it one of the "Big six" distribution companies in Holywood which means that it should be able to distribute our film to a very large audience. We have also chosen it because it has produced and distributed several very successful thriller before such as Shutter Island, Collateral and Zodiac. Another reason why we have cosen Paramount pictures as our distubution company is because they own some of the most successful film franchises of all time such as Transformers, Mission Impossibe, The Godfather and Terminater. We think that this could mean that if our film was successful with their distribution company they might want to turn it into a franchise to make more money out of it.

Analysis of sound in Jaws

Jaws ia an excellent example to show parrallel sound in a thriller. The film's score was composed by John Williams whom won the oscar for best original score for this film. At the start of the scene it shows Chrissie and her boyfriend running towards the sea, there is no score st this point, we can only hear the ambient sound. As soon as Chrissie enters the water the score starts. At first there are many shots taken of her swimming from under the water with the sun shining through the water showing a silouhette of Chrissie as she swims. At this point the score is very majestic and pleasent with a slightly mysterious undertone and after a while the underwater camera starts to get closer to Chrissie and as this happens the iconic string instruments slowly come in and as the cmaera gets closer to chrissie the strings start to speed up creating a build up of dramtic tension.Throughout this whole scene the shark who kills Chrissie is never actually scene which may seem slightly odd to some people but the fact that it isn't seen in this sequence makes it slightly scarier as not revealing the shark makes it more enigmatic and mysterious and build tension between the spectator and Jaws.

Analysis of the opening titles in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The opening title sequence in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" starts just after the opening scene of the film. The first shot in the opening title sequence is completely black apart from the title which are in white. The effect of using colours which are oppossites is that it makes the titles stand out more on the black background. The first titles show us the companies which have distibuted this film. We can see that both of these distibution companies are very famous which makes us think that this must be a relitively high budget film.
The background in the title sequence continues to be very dark with small bit of white. This gives the spectator the feeling that this film is going to be a verey dark film. The music in the background during this is the "Immigrant Song" which is a famous rock song orignially sung by Led Zeppelin however, this version is a cover of the original which is performed by Karen O, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. This means that the song is a newer version of an old song similarly, this film is a newer version of film which has already been made, although this link may be a coincidence it could have been used by the filmakers to show that they were doing their film in a new and original way and they have shown this by using a song at the start which many people are familiar with but it's being presented in a new and original way. The second screenshot from the opening titles shows the production companies which made this film. We can see from this that they are both fairly unknown production companies which contadicts with the fact that it has been distributed by very well-known companies and shows that it may not be a particuarly mainstream film.
The third screenshot from the opening sequenece shows the directors name. Many people who are familiar with the directors work will know that he is verey well known for making several of the most critically acclaimed thriller ever made such as "Se7en", "Zodiac" and "Fight Club". The background in this shot is still very dark.
The fourth screenshot that i have taken from the opening sequence shows one of the main characters name. In the background it shows what looks like to be scales which might be found on a reptile. This could be symbolising the "Dragon" in the title and it might have been used to show that the actors whos name is in this shot is the character described in the title of the film.
The fith shot shows a dragon's head which once again could be linked to the title of the film. The film's opening sequence has not yet shown any people, it has just shown computer generated images. The background in this shot is once again very dark. Unlike the previous shots there is very little white. The dragon in this shot is grey which gives it a more enigmatic feel.
The sixth and seventh shot shows the title of the film in bold grey letters. All of the letters are in capitols which makes there stand out more. As we can see in the seventh shot the title is quickly hidden by a black oil-like substance which washes over the titles.
The eighth shot in the films opening sequence shows several wires which can be linked to one of the characters in the film. One of the main characters in the film is a private detective who uses this kind of technology to hack into other peoples computers to find out their information. The opening title sequence in this film could be quite easily linked to the oping titles of a James Bond film. In the opening titles of James Bond films they often show thinkis which foreshadow events which will happen later on in the film similarly this film symbolises many things and charcters whitin the film during the opening sequence.
The ninth shot in the opeing title sequence has no relation to the film that I can think of however, it does show a man's face on fire which I think most people would consider to be a very dark and disturbing image which could show the spectator the feel of the film as it can be very disturbing at certain points within the story.
The tenth shot is the first shot which shows a person. Although it is not a real person it showws what looks to be almost a model or a manequin of Daniel Craig who is the protagoinst in the film. He is very dark and almost completely black apart from a little bt of light which is shining on his face.
The eleventh in the sequence shows a amn who looks like he is drowning. I think that this shot foreshadows an event in the film as it is revealed during the film that one of the most important character's father drowned.
The twelth shot shows a flower which is another key part of the film as in the film a killer sends his victim a framed flower evry year. This shot might have been use to symbolise that.
The thirteenth shot foreshadows a sexual relationship which happens later on in the film and the laswt shot shows the protagonist tied up and trying to break loose which happens in one of the key scenes near the end of the film.
